Teaching Theology of the Body (TOB) to teens and adults is an important but challenging ministry.  Our discussion-based curriculum provides a fun and meaningful introduction for students, along with flexibility and help for you as the teacher.  Anyone with a solid faith and a basic knowledge of TOB can use our curriculum to lead discussions.  Our TOB discussion questions help you guide your students to seeing the TOB concepts embedded in the first and second novel.  The novels provides plenty of examples of John Paul II’s concepts so you can lead students from experience to theory, enabling them to learn inductively.   Our “teacher’s notes” give you the option of labeling TOB concepts with Pope John Paul II’s terms or reading aloud from his works when you deem it appropriate. Everything is keyed to JPII’s writings for your ease in preparation.  The curriculum is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of a weekly group, a monthly book club, or a daily classroom setting.  A teacher who used the book with 8th-10th graders wrote, “This semester, the kids learned far more than I can quickly put into words. I found that what the kids had to say was usually very insightful and helpful for my own personal spiritual growth as well (same with the text itself!).”  The mother of one of her students read the first novel along with her son and found “it opened up conversations we never would have had.  If I had asked him directly about dating or prayer, he would have clammed up; but we could easily talk about what was happening with the characters.”  Another teacher wrote, “The teacher’s manual was great to have in order to keep discussion going. It had some really good questions to ask the kids, or even information to provide to the kids.”  A college senior who taught TOB using the first novel with a group of young adults and the second novel with a group of teens and young adults wrote, “I love these books and love leading.  I’ve super enjoyed both groups, and both groups have been very involved and that has led to great conversations.  These books are great, and definitely should be implemented in more places.”  If you are interested in using the TOB curriculum with teens and/or adults, please click here to contact us.  Click below for more information on the TOB curriculum.
